Bharat Ratna to former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh and Swaminathan, PM Modi announced

Bharat Ratna Award 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced on Friday that MS Swaminathan, former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh will be honored with Bharat Ratna.

Bharat Ratna Announcement: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that former Prime Ministers Chaudhary Charan Singh and Narasimha Rao, along with MS Swaminathan, renowned for his significant contributions to the agriculture sector, will be honored with the Bharat Ratna. PM Modi shared this news via Twitter, first revealing that former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh will receive the prestigious award.

Chaudhary Charan Singh stood firm during the emergency

PM Modi, in his tweet announcing Chaudhary Charan Singh’s Bharat Ratna award, highlighted the significant contributions of the former Prime Minister to the nation. He stated, “It is a moment of pride for our government to honor the former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh with the Bharat Ratna. This recognition is a tribute to his unparalleled dedication to the nation. Throughout his life, he championed the rights and welfare of farmers.”

Continuing, PM Modi emphasized, “Whether serving as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the Home Minister of the country, or as an MLA, Chaudhary Charan Singh always prioritized nation-building. His unwavering stance against the Emergency remains a testament to his commitment to democracy. His dedication to our farming community and his resilience during the Emergency serve as an inspiration to the entire nation.”

PV Narasimha Rao was a scholar and statesman

In his announcement of the Bharat Ratna award for former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, PM Modi stated, “I am pleased to announce that former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao Garu will be honored with the Bharat Ratna. He was not only a scholar but also a statesman. Narasimha Rao served the country in various capacities and will be remembered for his contributions as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Union Minister, MP, and MLA.”

PM Modi continued in his tweet, acknowledging Narasimha Rao’s visionary leadership, which played a pivotal role in advancing India economically and laying a strong foundation for the nation’s development. “During his tenure as Prime Minister, he made several landmark decisions that propelled India into the global market, heralding a new era of economic growth,” PM Modi added. He also highlighted Narasimha Rao’s significant contributions to India’s foreign policy, language, and education sectors, which will be remembered for years to come.

Swaminathan made India self-reliant in agriculture sector

In his announcement of MS Swaminathan being honored with the Bharat Ratna, PM Modi expressed his delight, stating, “I am pleased to share that the Government of India is bestowing the Bharat Ratna upon MS Swaminathan, who has made unparalleled contributions to the welfare of agriculture and farmers. Swaminathan played a pivotal role in ensuring India’s self-reliance in the agricultural sector during challenging times.”

Highlighting Swaminathan’s achievements on Twitter, PM Modi remarked, “Swaminathan dedicated himself to modernizing Indian agriculture. His visionary leadership not only revolutionized Indian agriculture but also guaranteed the nation’s food security and prosperity.” PM Modi also emphasized his close relationship with Swaminathan, stating, “He was someone I had the privilege of knowing closely, and I always valued his counsel.”
