Ice Cream Pioneer Raghunandan Kamath: Raghunandan Kamath, who fed the country ice cream, is no longer among us. Raghunandan Kamath, the founder of Naturals Ice Cream, breathed his last in the hospital on Saturday at the age of 75. He was battling illness. The company has informed about his demise on social media. People also fondly called Raghunandan Kamath the Ice Cream Man of India.

Naturals Ice Cream wrote on social media platform X that our boss and founder Raghunandan Kamat has left the world. This is a very sad day for us. The Naturals family will always keep him alive in their memories. Karnataka BJP chief Captain Brijesh Chowta also wrote on X that a great journey has come to an end. I am deeply saddened by the demise of the ‘Ice Cream Man’. He has made Naturals Ice Cream a well-known name. He completed the journey from Mulki to Mumbai in an excellent manner. His life is a lesson for all of us. I pray for peace for his family.Â
He was born in a family of fruit sellers
Raghunandan Kamat was highly respected in the ice cream industry. Raghunandan Kamat started his journey from Mulki, a small town in Karnataka. He was born in a fruit selling family. Raghunandan Kamat also used to help his father in the fruit business. At the age of 14, he decided to move from Mulki to Mumbai, where he started working in his brother’s restaurant.
Pav Bhaji was sold with ice cream
In February 1984, Raghunandan Kamat started the ice cream business with four employees. He started his work with 12 flavors of ice cream. To attract more and more customers, he used to sell pav bhaji along with ice cream. This gave him initial success in the business. When people started liking his ice cream, he started focusing only on Naturals ice cream. Today Naturals ice cream is a company worth about Rs 400 crore. It also has 135 outlets across the country.
