PM Dedicates ‘Tridev’- 3 New Warships: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated three warships INS Surat (Destroyer), INS Nilgiri (Stealth Frigate) and INS Vagsheer (Submarine) to the nation. These three ultra-modern war ships will further increase the strength of the Navy. Modi said that 15 January is also celebrated as Army Day. Today is a big day for India’s maritime heritage, the glorious history of the Navy and the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had given a new strength and a new vision to the Navy. Today, on his holy land, we are taking a big step towards strengthening the 21st century Navy. This is the first time that a destroyer, frigate and submarine are being commissioned together. All three are Made in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the Indian Navy Dockyard in Mumbai on Wednesday (15 January 2025). Here he dedicated three naval warships – INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vagsheer to the country. PM Modi said, “The Navy has a glorious history. These three warships are Made in India, which will give new strength to the country’s security. This will protect the entire region from terrorism and drug smuggling.”

Highlights of Modi’s speech

India is becoming a maritime power

The platforms launched today also reflect this. Nilgiri is dedicated to the maritime power of the Chola dynasty. Surat War Ship reminds us of the time when Gujarat was connected to West Asia through a port. Today, Baghsheer submarine is also being commissioned. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to commission the first submarine of the P-75 class. Today, I am dedicating the sixth submarine of this class.

We consider the whole world as a family

India works with the spirit of development, not expansionism. We have supported the open, secure and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. When it came to the development of countries bordering the sea, India gave the mantra SAGAR – Security and Growth for All in the Region. In the G-20, we said One Earth, One Family, One Future. During the time of Corona, we said One World, One Health. We consider the whole world as a family.

The world’s trust in India has increased

In the last few months, our Navy has saved hundreds of lives. It has protected national and international cargo worth thousands of crores of rupees. The world’s trust in India has increased. Trust in the Indian Navy and Coast Guard is constantly increasing. Be it ASEAN, Australia, Gulf or African countries, India’s economic cooperation with all is constantly getting stronger.

Working with the mantra of Make in India

The country’s largest helicopter manufacturing factory started in Karnataka. The defense corridor being built in UP-Tamil Nadu will gain more momentum. The Navy has also expanded the Make in India campaign. You colleagues of Mazgaon Dock Yard have a role to play. In 10 years, 33 ships and 7 submarines were inducted into the Navy. Out of these, 39 were built in Indian shipyards only.

Our forces have prepared a list of more than 5 thousand such equipments and tools which they will no longer import from foreign countries. When an Indian soldier moves forward with Indian equipments, the confidence is also different.
