ITLF said- Whether Biren remains CM or not, our demand is for a separate administration

Ginja Wooljong, spokesperson of the Kuki community’s organization ITLF, said- Biren Singh has resigned due to fear of defeat in the no-confidence motion in the Manipur Assembly. Recently, an audiotape of his was leaked, which has been taken cognizance of by the Supreme Court. In such a situation, it seems difficult even for the BJP to save him.

Whether Biren remains the Chief Minister or not, our demand is for a separate administration. The Meitei community has separated us. Now we cannot back down. A lot of blood has been shed. Only a political solution can solve our problems. The Kuki community is still adamant about its demand for a separate administration.

Rahul said- PM should go to Manipur immediately

After N Biren Singh’s resignation, Rahul Gandhi said that despite the violence and loss of life and property, PM Modi kept N Biren Singh in the post. But now due to the increasing pressure from the people, Supreme Court’s investigation and Congress’ no-confidence motion, N Biren Singh was forced to resign.

In the post, he said that the most important thing at this time is to restore peace in the state and heal the wounds of the people of Manipur. PM Modi should immediately go to Manipur, listen to the people there and tell what plans he is making to normalize the situation.

A month ago, Biren Singh had said on Manipur violence – forgive me A month ago, Manipur CM Biren Singh had apologized for the violence in the state and the loss of life in it. Biren Singh had said that the whole year has been very unfortunate. I am very sad about this. I apologize to the people of the state for whatever is happening from May 3, 2023 till today.

CM Biren Singh said during a discussion with the media at the Secretariat- Many people lost their loved ones. Many people left their homes. I am really sorry. I want to apologize.

Violence between the Kuki-Meitei community has been going on in Manipur since May 3, 2023. More than 600 days have passed since the violence broke out between the Meitei-Kuki community.

Biren said, ‘408 incidents of firing were recorded in Manipur from May 2023 to October 2023. There were 345 incidents from November 2023 to April 2024. 112 incidents have been reported from May 2024 till now.’

However, there has been peace in the state since the last month. There has been no incident of violence. People have not come out on the streets even for sporadic protests. Government offices are opening daily and the number of children in schools is increasing.

In the leaked audio clip, the CM was accused of inciting violence

On February 3, the Supreme Court heard the Manipur violence case. A petition was filed in the court on behalf of the Kuki Organization for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR) demanding an investigation into some audio clips.

It was claimed that in the audio the CM is allegedly saying that he allowed the Maitis to incite violence and protected them.

Petitioners’ lawyer Prashant Bhushan said that the tapes that have surfaced are very serious. On this, the bench of CJI Sanjeev Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar told the Manipur government to ensure that this does not become another issue.

Regarding this, the Supreme Court has sought a report from the Central Forensic Science Lab (CFSL) in a sealed envelope within 6 weeks.
