Delhi police bust fake shoes racket

The Delhi Police has busted a manufacturing unit producing counterfeit shoes of major international brands, including Nike, Adidas, New Balance and Skechers. The police have arrested its owner— Sandeep Singh (44)—from northeast Delhi and have filed a case cheating, forgery and copyright infringement. Large quantities of fake shoe components, printing material and heavy machinery used in manufacturing were recovered during the raid.

The raid was carried out by the Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Cell.  “The recovery of large-scale machinery and counterfeit material shows the organised nature of the operation. Such rackets cause significant losses to genuine brands and mislead consumers,” DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said.

DCP Yadav said the operation was the result of coordination with authorised representatives of the affected companies. The Crime Branch is now probing the supply chain to identify buyers, distributors and others linked to the racket. Police said the unit was involved in printing brand logos and assembling counterfeit shoes, which were later supplied to local markets and other locations as branded products. Officials said the seized machinery and material indicate that the operation had been running on a large scale for a considerable period.
