PMO moves to Seva Teerth

After more than a century, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Cabinet Secretariat and the National Security Council Secretariat will shift from the South Block on Friday to a new building known as Seva Teerth.

PM Narendra Modi will chair a special meeting of the Union Cabinet at the South Block on Friday, the last such gathering at the British-era secretariat building before the PMO shifts to the new complex.

PM Modi will unveil the name of the building complex Seva Teerth on 13th February, 2026 at around 1.30 PM, according to a PMO statement. The PM will subsequently inaugurate Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan-1 & 2 and address a public programme at 6 PM. Constructed as a part of the Government’s larger Central Vista redevelopmemt, the complex is located on Dara Shikoh Road. Seva Teerth houses the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat, the Cabinet Secretariat, all of which were previously located across different locations. The relocation is part of the Government’s broader initiative to decolonise India’s administrative architecture and governance.

Currently, the PMO is located in the imperial complex designed in the early 1900 by British architect Herbert Baker. The Government plans to convert the iconic buildings into the ‘Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum’, a world-class museum tracing India’s civilisational journey.
