In a historic first for the gateway to the Northeast, Guwahati is set to witness a grand display of valour and military discipline as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) prepares for its 87th CRPF Parade Day at the Sarusajai Stadium on February 19. The event marks a significant homecoming for the newly appointed Director General of the CRPF, GP Singh. The former Assam
Director General of Police (DGP) will return to the State in his new role to preside over the prestigious parade. The main event on February 19 will feature eight elite marching contingents, including the Rapid Action Force (RAF), Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), and dedicated women’s units. Attendees can expect adrenaline-pumping stunts by the CRPF ‘Daredevils’ motorcycle team and demonstrations of traditional Indian martial arts.
To build momentum for the grand finale, the force has initiated a series of pre-event public displays across the city. On February 16, a Yoga session and Band display were held at the Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre. The celebrations will continue on February 17 at the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu with a high-octane motorcycle show followed by a musical performance by the CRPF brass band.
