Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Hyderabad on May 10 in his first visit to Telangana since returning to power for a third term following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for multiple development projects collectively worth around Rs 7,823 crore across the state. One of the major projects includes the foundation stone laying ceremony for the integrated industrial smart city at Zaheerabad under the Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor.
The 3,245-acre project is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 2,360 crore and is expected to boost industrial growth and employment generation in the region. PM Modi will also inaugurate the PM MITRA Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, which is being developed at a cost of nearly Rs 1,695 crore.
According to officials, the textile park is projected to attract investments worth over Rs 6,000 crore and create significant employment opportunities in the textile and apparel sector.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to inaugurate several railway, petroleum and highway infrastructure projects. These include a modern petroleum storage and distribution terminal in Hyderabad and the third railway line between Kazipet and Vijayawada, developed at a cost of approximately Rs 1,243 crore.
National highway projects worth around Rs 3,175 crore in Mahabubnagar district will also be launched virtually during the visit. Apart from infrastructure initiatives, PM Modi will visit HITEC City to inaugurate Sindhu Hospital and interact with members of the medical community. He will later address a major public meeting at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad organised by the Telangana BJP.
The BJP has described the visit as a major political mobilisation exercise ahead of upcoming local body elections, especially the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls. Party leaders said arrangements have been made to mobilise nearly two lakh supporters for the public meeting, with special trains and thousands of buses arranged from different parts of the state.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, authorities have heightened security measures in Hyderabad and surrounding areas, with restrictions imposed on drones, paragliders and microlight aircraft in key locations including Begumpet, Madhapur and Secunderabad.
