The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested former district judge Giribala Singh in connection with the Twisha Sharma death case, marking a major development in the ongoing probe into the alleged dowry death.
According to reports, the arrest comes shortly after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled Singh’s anticipatory bail, paving the way for her custodial interrogation in the case.
The court had earlier noted serious allegations against the accused, including claims of harassment, dowry demands, and contradictory explanations regarding injuries found on Twisha Sharma’s body.
Following the court’s order, CBI teams reached Singh’s residence in Bhopal and initiated formal custody proceedings as part of their expanded investigation into the case.
The agency has already taken over the probe, re-registering the case and expanding the investigation to include forensic analysis, digital evidence, and statements from both families involved.
The Twisha Sharma case, which involves allegations of dowry harassment and suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, has drawn national attention due to the involvement of a former judicial officer and the seriousness of the charges.
Investigators are now expected to focus on custodial interrogation, financial transactions, and communication records as they work to establish the sequence of events leading to Sharma’s death.
The case continues to develop as legal proceedings move forward under CBI supervision.
