Indian national anthem in Greece: Atiqa Mir races to most dominant win of her career

Eleven-year-old Indian racing prodigy Atiqa Mir delivered the most dominant performance of her young career by securing a clean sweep in Round 2 of the Champions of the Future Academy Program in Greece. The Mumbai-born racer topped qualifying, won both heat races, and clinched the final, becoming only the third driver in the series’ history to achieve the feat.

Competing in the highly competitive OK-NJ category for drivers aged 12-14, Atiqa showcased exceptional pace and consistency throughout the weekend. Supported by the Formula 1 Academy, she outperformed a field of experienced international racers and established herself as one of the brightest young talents in global karting.

Atiqa secured pole position with a record lap time of 56.77 seconds, nearly three-tenths of a second faster than her closest rival. She then dominated both heat races before producing a commanding display in the 15-lap final, opening a significant lead and crossing the finish line well ahead of the competition.

Her victory in Round 2.2 came by more than 2.6 seconds, a remarkable margin in a one-make racing category where all drivers compete using identical equipment. The triumph became even more special as the Indian national anthem played during the podium ceremony, leaving the young racer emotional.

Speaking after the race, Atiqa said she was overwhelmed with pride hearing the national anthem and described it as one of the most memorable moments of her career. Her father, former Formula Asia vice-champion Asif Mir, praised her pace, determination and professional approach throughout the weekend.

Atiqa’s latest achievement further strengthens her reputation as one of India’s most promising motorsport talents and keeps alive her dream of becoming the first female Formula 1 driver in more than three decades.
