The Pune Police have moved a local court seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Vishal Agarwal, father of the minor accused in the high-profile Porsche crash case, alleging that he violated conditions imposed by the Supreme Court while granting him relief.
The plea was filed before the Shivajinagar Sessions Court after a video purportedly showing Agarwal celebrating his bail with family members went viral on social media. Police contend that such celebrations could influence witnesses and amount to a breach of bail conditions. The matter is expected to come up for hearing on Tuesday.
Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hire said the prosecution would argue that the alleged conduct cannot be viewed lightly and may create pressure on witnesses connected to the case. The move followed directions from Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, who ordered legal action after taking cognisance of the viral video.
However, the Agarwal family has dismissed the allegations, claiming the video dates back to 2023 and was recorded during Vishal Agarwal’s 25th wedding anniversary celebrations in Goa, well before the Porsche crash case was registered in May 2024.
The case relates to a fatal accident in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area, where a Porsche allegedly driven by Agarwal’s then 17-year-old son crashed into a motorcycle, killing two IT professionals. Vishal Agarwal is among the accused in the alleged blood sample swapping conspiracy aimed at concealing the juvenile driver’s alleged alcohol consumption.
