Rule Changes from July 1: Several major rules will change starting July 1! These changes—including those related to Railways and Aadhaar—will directly impact you.

July 1 Rule Changes: The month of June is drawing to a close, and July is set to begin. As happens every month, certain changes are coming into effect. These changes could impact citizens across the country and may also increase the financial burden on the common man. Here, we outline the key changes that will come into force on July 1. Let’s take a look…

  1. Aadhaar Card

According to the UIDAI, a fee of ₹75 (inclusive of GST) is currently charged to update an email ID in Aadhaar records. However, from July 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, there will be no charge for updating your email via the Aadhaar mobile app; the service will be completely free during this period. If your email is not yet linked to your Aadhaar or if you need to change an old email address, you can take advantage of this free service starting July 1. This will help keep your Aadhaar records secure and up-to-date.

  1. Railway Rules

The government has amended Sections 137 and 138 of the Railways Act, 1989, under the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026. Under these amendments, the minimum fine has been raised from ₹250 to ₹500. These new rules are likely to come into effect on July 1. The Railways has decided that carrying hazardous items will now attract a minimum fine of ₹10,000, and serious cases could even lead to imprisonment. Additionally, passengers traveling without a valid ticket or pass will now face a fine of ₹500. Furthermore, selling goods or hawking without a license, or begging on railway premises, will incur a penalty of up to ₹2,000.

  1. LPG Rules

Significant fluctuations in LPG prices have been observed in recent months due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. In June, the price of commercial LPG cylinders increased by ₹53.50, effective from the first of the month. Against this backdrop, it is expected that LPG cylinder prices may change from July 1, which will impact the common man’s pocket.
