The ongoing unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) has claimed hundreds of lives so far. People are being killed daily at the hands of Pakistan’s oppressive military. Amidst this situation, Sardar Aman Khan—a leader of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which is spearheading the protests in PoK—has sought help from India. He claims that following a crackdown on the protests, the Pakistan government has imposed an economic blockade on the region. The JAAC leader has now appealed to New Delhi to send humanitarian aid and open the border along the Line of Control (LoC). He argued that if the situation deteriorates further, ordinary citizens of PoK should have the option to move to India.

In a video going viral on social media, Aman Khan is heard saying, “We need India’s help. There is a shortage of rations here…” He claimed that the intensification of the crackdown by Pakistani security forces against protesters has left PoK residents facing shortages of food and medicines, resulting in a severe humanitarian crisis.
Addressing a massive crowd at the Eidgah ground in Rawalakot, Aman Khan asked the people whether they should march towards the Line of Control. The crowd repeatedly responded, “March towards it.”
