Speculation has once again intensified on social media regarding the past relationship between Bollywood actor Muzammil Ibrahim and Deepika Padukone. Recently, an old interview clip featuring Muzammil went viral, leading many to mistake it for a recent statement. Observing the situation escalate, Muzammil issued an official statement on social media to clarify his stance on the matter. It is worth noting that the two were previously in a relationship; Deepika was dating Muzammil when she first entered the industry, though they eventually parted ways.
Muzammil Ibrahim Clarifies the Interview Clip
In the viral video, Muzammil is heard telling Siddharth Kannan that he was the one who ended the relationship with Deepika Padukone and that he has no regrets about the decision. After the clip went viral and was misinterpreted as a recent statement, Muzammil shared a note on his Instagram handle. He wrote, “The interview currently being discussed—and misrepresented as a new claim—was actually recorded over a year ago. The clip being shared now is merely a small segment of a much longer conversation.” He further explained that editing a conversation or viewing isolated snippets causes the original context, the nuances of hesitation, and the respect with which the topics were discussed to be lost. Notably, in the interview Muzammil referred to, he had stated that he was the one who ended the relationship with Deepika Padukone.
Always Maintained Respect for the Past
In the latter part of his statement, Muzammil clarified that he has always spoken about people from his past with dignity and respect, and that his perspective remains unchanged. He wrote, “Like everyone else, I too have focused on improving my work and my life over the years, and I hope the conversation remains centered on that.” At the end of his note, he stated that he always stands for expressing himself with honesty and respect.

In that old interview, while speaking about the early days of his relationship with Deepika, Muzammil said, “We dated for about two years. She was the first girl I met after coming to Mumbai, and I was the first guy she met. It was my first relationship, and Deepika was the one who proposed to me. We broke up because I decided to end the relationship, but I have no regrets about it. I never harbor regrets about leaving someone. At that time, I had become a star, while she was a model who hadn’t yet ventured into acting.”

It is worth noting that Deepika Padukone married actor Ranveer Singh in November 2018. The couple welcomed their first daughter in September 2024, and according to reports, they are soon expecting their second child.
