The Bhajanlal government is launching a new initiative for the lakhs of students currently studying in Rajasthan’s government schools and for the alumni who have achieved success across the country and abroad after graduating from them. The Education Department has decided to organize ‘Alumni Meets’ in all state secondary and senior secondary schools, modeled after the practices of private convent and prominent public schools. The primary objective of this special event, titled ‘Sakha Sangam’, is to reconnect successful citizens who graduated from government schools with their roots, their former teachers, and the students currently studying there.
This week-long event, scheduled from November 16 to 23, will not only revive cherished memories but also provide a new direction for basic infrastructure, smart classrooms, and innovation in Rajasthan’s government schools through the alumni’s experiences, guidance, and financial and technical support.
‘Alumni Forum’ to be established in every school; President and Treasurer to be elected
Instead of making the ‘Sakha Sangam’ program merely a one-day formal ceremony, it is being structured as a permanent system. To this end, an ‘Alumni Forum’ will be formally constituted in every government secondary and senior secondary school in the state.
Local citizens, serving and retired teachers, and former students of the school will be involved in the formation of this forum. An executive committee for the forum will be formed through a democratic and transparent process, selecting key office bearers such as the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
This committee will not only organize the event but will also provide continuous support for future needs—such as fund management, the development of computer labs, and scholarships for underprivileged yet meritorious students.
Digital database of alumni to be created
Locating and establishing contact with alumni who left school years ago poses a significant challenge. To address this, the Education Department has devised a robust plan at the grassroots level. Each government school will examine its old Scholastic Record (SR) registers and compile a list of alumni based on the names and addresses recorded therein.
A senior teacher will be appointed as the ‘Nodal In-charge’ in every school. The designated teacher will be responsible for contacting alumni via phone calls, social media groups, and local networks.
Alumni residing outside the village or city—whether in other states or abroad—will be cordially invited to the alumni meet (scheduled for November 16–23) through digital invitation cards.
Real-time monitoring via the Shala Darpan portal
Technology is being extensively utilized to ensure the entire campaign remains transparent and organized. The Education Department has decided to develop a dedicated module for this purpose on Rajasthan’s renowned ‘Shala Darpan portal.’
On the Shala Darpan portal, every school will be required to upload details regarding the members of its ‘Alumni Forum,’ the number of registered alumni, and photographs as well as comprehensive reports of the events held between November 16 and 23.
District Education Officers (DEOs) and senior state-level officials will monitor the entire event on a day-to-day basis through the portal to ensure that the program is conducted with the utmost seriousness and enthusiasm in every school.
