Good news for those getting married! The government will provide up to ₹5 lakh subject to a condition; find out how to apply.

The Government of India and various state governments are implementing a special initiative aimed at fostering social harmony and eradicating caste-based discrimination across the country. Under this initiative, newlywed couples in inter-caste marriages are provided with financial incentives ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh. If you or someone you know has entered into an inter-caste marriage, you can avail the benefits of these government welfare schemes. Learn about the key schemes offered by the central and state governments, eligibility criteria, and the complete application process.

Dr. Ambedkar Social Integration Scheme
The Dr. Ambedkar Scheme is implemented at the national level by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Under this scheme, eligible couples receive a one-time financial assistance of ₹2.5 lakh, transferred directly to their bank accounts. The primary objective of this scheme is to provide financial support to couples in inter-caste marriages.

Eligibility Criteria
To avail the benefits of this scheme, it is mandatory for one of the spouses to belong to a Scheduled Caste (SC), while the other must belong to a non-Scheduled Caste category (i.e., General or OBC). It must be the first marriage for both individuals. Additionally, the marriage must be legally registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, or the Special Marriage Act. Couples must apply for the scheme within one year of the official date of marriage.
