Country first high-speed testing lab ready in Rajasthan; trains to run at 250 km/h.

Rajasthan: Rajasthan is set to write a new, golden chapter in the history of Indian Railways. The country’s first 64-kilometer-long ‘high-speed test track’ is being constructed between Gudha and Thathana Mithri under the Jodhpur Division of North Western Railway at a cost of ₹967.07 crore; approximately 95 percent of the work is already complete. Notably, this test track has also been successfully connected to the main railway network. Following the upcoming Diwali festival, the first official trials for high-speed trains and rolling stock—capable of speeds up to 250 kmph—will commence here. Equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced sensors, and high-resolution cameras, this track will serve as a state-of-the-art ‘open lab’ for Indian Railways, helping to determine the safety and performance capabilities of future high-speed trains.

Monitoring via AI and Cameras

The primary USP of this high-speed test track lies in its technical capabilities. As the train passes during trials, the system will gather real-time data. Advanced sensors, high-resolution cameras, and data recording systems installed along the track will collect millions of data points every second.
