Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur has shared a post on social media warning of legal action against deepfake content. She expressed concern over the use of technology to create deepfakes and manipulate videos. With the rising use of AI, deepfake videos featuring people from around the world—especially famous celebrities—frequently go viral. A few months ago, a deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna also went viral, prompting many stars from the industry to come out in her support; now, Mrunal has issued a warning to those creating deepfakes of her.
Mrunal shared a post on Instagram warning those who create deepfakes using her photos, videos, or voice, and demanded their removal. She stated that she would not tolerate such illegal activities. The actress wrote, “Creating and sharing deepfake content using my photos or voice is illegal and unacceptable. Through this post, I am warning everyone to stop creating such content immediately. If my identity is misused in any way, I will take legal action.”
On the work front, Mrunal Thakur was recently seen alongside Varun Dhawan in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, a film that failed to make a significant impact at the box office. Prior to that, she starred alongside Adivi Sesh in Dacoit: A Love Story. Before these projects, she appeared with Siddhant Chaturvedi in Do Deewane Shahar Mein. That film revolves around two individuals living in Mumbai who find love and a sense of belonging with each other while grappling with self-doubt, societal pressure, and insecurity. As for her upcoming projects, Mrunal will be seen in Pooja Meri Jaan and the Allu Arjun-starrer Raka. Directed by Atlee Kumar, Raka also features Deepika Padukone in a pivotal role. Allu Arjun’s first look from the film was released recently.
