A massive fire broke out suddenly on Saturday morning at an oil packaging factory located in the Matsya Industrial Area (MIA) of Alwar. The fire quickly intensified, sending plumes of smoke and flames visible from a great distance and causing widespread panic. Since it was a holiday (August 15th), the factory was closed; the on-duty guard alerted the owner, Pawan Chaudhary, about the fire, and the fire department was subsequently informed. The blaze caused chaos among neighboring factories as well. It is reported that 25 fire tenders from five districts made 150 trips to bring the fire under control over a period of approximately eight hours. After a strenuous effort, fire department crews managed to extinguish the blaze by 2:00 PM.
According to available information, the fire started around 6:00 AM at the ‘Alwar Salvex’ mustard oil packaging factory in the MIA and rapidly escalated. The situation was so severe that the fire could not be fully brought under control even by 9:00 AM. Thick smoke continued to billow from the factory while firefighting teams worked to douse the flames. Given the intensity of the fire, the administration and fire department evacuated nearby factories as a precautionary measure; employees were moved to safety, and operations at surrounding industrial units were halted. Sources indicated that the area around the factory was cordoned off, and no one was permitted to approach the site of the fire. Movement throughout the area was restricted for safety reasons.
Factory owner Pawan Chaudhary stated that a short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire. He rushed to the scene immediately upon receiving the news. He noted that only two fire tenders are available within the MIA, highlighting a major issue regarding fire emergencies in the industrial area. The loss resulting from the fire at the factory is currently estimated to exceed ₹25–30 crore. It has also been reported that approximately seven lakh liters of mustard oil were destroyed in the blaze.
