New Delhi: Google introduced an AI mode for Search last year, allowing users to ask questions in a conversational style and receive precise answers accompanied by relevant links. Now, Google is expanding this AI mode with new travel-focused features. With the latest update, users can track flight prices, compare rates in points and miles, and even find and book hotels directly through the AI mode. These new features enable users to plan their entire trip and make related bookings without leaving Google Search.
Google Adds New Travel Tools to Search’s AI Mode
In a new blog post, Google announced the latest features coming to the AI mode in Search. The company has integrated Google Flights’ popular price-tracking feature directly into the AI mode, allowing users to set price alerts while chatting. By entering departure, arrival, and travel time details, the AI mode displays available options with current pricing from over 300 partner airlines and travel sites. Google states that users can create their entire travel itinerary within the AI mode and purchase tickets via airline websites or their preferred booking platforms.
With this latest update, users can ask the AI mode to track flight prices. Once the request is confirmed, users will receive an email whenever there is a change in fares for their selected destination and travel dates. Google has confirmed that the flight price-tracking feature in the AI mode is now available in over 180 countries and regions worldwide.
Additionally, the AI mode in Search can now show users the cost of flights and hotels in terms of points or miles. To use this feature, users need to provide trip details and specify which loyalty program they wish to use. The AI mode then retrieves the latest details from Google’s travel partners to show how many miles are required for eligible flights. This functionality is also available for hotels. Users can redeem their rewards directly from Search by visiting links to partner sites.
The feature to view point and mileage rates in AI Mode is now live for users worldwide. The company has confirmed support for loyalty and travel partners such as Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels International, Hilton, and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. Google has assured that support for Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM Airlines, and Lufthansa Group will also be added soon.
Finally, Google has introduced a feature for direct hotel booking via Search’s AI Mode. Users can specify their destination, travel dates, and hotel preferences, and AI Mode will display a list of options based on guest reviews and key criteria. After selecting a hotel, users can seek assistance with the booking through AI Mode. By selecting “Continue on Google” next to an integrated hotel chain or online travel agency, users can complete the booking process and make payments using Google Pay.
Hotel booking in AI Mode is currently available in the US and in English. It will soon be available with partners such as Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
