Swine Flu Cases in Chhattisgarh: The number of swine flu patients across the state, including the capital, continues to rise. In the last two days, 38 new cases were detected in Raipur and 85 across the state. A relieving fact is that there have been no deaths due to the disease in the past eight months. According to the Health Department, the number of active cases in the state has reached 122; 32 patients are in home isolation, while 90 are hospitalized. Doctors state that swine flu poses a risk if not treated in time, with patients suffering from diabetes or cancer facing a particularly high risk.
Such individuals should wear masks when going outdoors and visit hospitals only when necessary. It is essential to get tested if one falls ill. Testing facilities for swine flu are available at Ambedkar Hospital and private hospitals. Patients suffering from symptoms such as cough, cold, and breathing difficulties—in addition to viral fever—should certainly get tested. The number of cases is expected to decline in the coming days once the weather clears up. Currently, however, the number of patients in isolation wards is increasing, a trend that has raised concerns for the Health Department.
