Raipur: Liquor is being sold at prices higher than the prescribed rates at several premium liquor shops across the state; customers are being charged more than the fixed MRP (Maximum Retail Price) printed on the bottles. To address complaints regarding overcharging, the Excise Department has taken a significant decision.
The department has decided to make all premium liquor shops in the state cashless, and an official order to this effect has been issued. According to the order, customers will no longer be able to make cash payments at any premium shop in the state; instead, payments for liquor purchases must be made via online modes. To facilitate this, QR codes will be installed at all premium shops, allowing customers to make payments by scanning them.
This cashless system will be implemented across the state starting October 1st, covering 49 premium liquor shops. The initiative aims to curb complaints of overcharging at these shops and ensure transparency in sales and payments.
