Great convenience for FASTag users! No need to get a new FASTag when switching banks; OneTag will do the job.

FASTag OneTag: Here is important news for FASTag users. You no longer need to purchase a new FASTag or remove the old one from your vehicle’s windshield just to switch banks. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched the ‘OneTag’ facility for FASTag users, which can be accessed via the NHAI’s ‘Rajmargyatra’ app.

No Need to Replace FASTag When Switching Banks

Previously, if a FASTag user wanted to switch banks, they had to obtain a new FASTag from the new bank. This involved removing the old tag and affixing the new one to the vehicle’s windshield.

With the OneTag facility, a FASTag can now be ported from one bank to another. This means the FASTag physically attached to the vehicle remains the same, while the associated bank and wallet are updated. This eliminates the hassle of acquiring and re-affixing a new FASTag.

How to Port FASTag to Another Bank?

To port your FASTag to another bank, first log in to the Rajmargyatra app and enter your vehicle’s registration number. The app will indicate whether the specific FASTag is eligible for portability.

If the FASTag is eligible for porting, you must obtain a 6-digit MVC (Verification Code) from your current FASTag bank. Next, select the new bank within the Rajmargyatra app.

Once the new bank’s KYC and wallet setup processes are completed, the existing FASTag will be linked to the new bank. Consequently, the same FASTag already on the vehicle’s windshield can continue to be used.

What Happens to the Balance on the Old FASTag?

After the FASTag is ported, the old bank will close the existing wallet. Any remaining balance in the wallet will be refunded in accordance with the rules. However, certain deductions may apply during the refund process as per the applicable regulations.

Cannot Re-port FASTag for 6 Months

The OneTag portability facility cannot be used repeatedly in quick succession. Once a FASTag has been ported to another bank, you must wait six months before you can switch banks again. In other words, after porting a FASTag from one bank to another, one must wait for a period of six months to elapse before the next portability can be availed.
