Weather Alert Today: The weather is taking a turn once again in many parts of the country during the final days of September. An alert for rain and strong winds has been issued for September 20 across 21 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Wind speeds could reach 70 to 72 km/h in some areas. Concerns have also risen regarding the likelihood of lightning strikes accompanying the rain in Eastern India. The weather’s impact is expected to be felt from North India to the Northeastern and Southern states.
Rain Alert for These States
Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are likely in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Noida, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, and Deoria. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 34°C, with a minimum of 26°C.
The weather is also set to deteriorate in Bihar. Heavy rain is expected in several districts, including Patna, Gaya, Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj, and Bhagalpur. Wind speeds could reach approximately 50 km/h during this period, and there is also a risk of lightning strikes.
Strong winds accompanied by light rain are likely in Delhi-NCR, with wind speeds potentially reaching 40 to 50 km/h.
A spell of rain and thunderstorms may also be witnessed in several districts of Rajasthan.
Adverse weather conditions are expected in various parts of Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Indore, Bhind, Katni, and Singrauli.

Strong winds and rain are expected to affect the Uttarakhand districts of Chamoli, Dehradun, Pithoragarh, Nainital, and Rudraprayag.
Adverse weather is also predicted for Shimla, Chamba, Mandi, Solan, and Kangra in Himachal Pradesh.
Rain alerts have also been issued for several areas in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. Weather system forming in Bay of Bengal to increase rainfall
Meanwhile, a weather system developing in the Bay of Bengal could lead to increased rainfall in the coming days. A low-pressure area is likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal on September 21 and intensify into a deep depression by September 22. Its impact could extend to the coastal regions of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, as well as to Bihar and Jharkhand.
