Asian Games 2026: September 25th was a spectacular day for India at the 2026 Asian Games. In shooting, the duo of Kamaljeet and Suruchi clinched the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. This marks India’s second gold medal of the competition; the Indian women’s cricket team had previously won a gold medal.
Kamaljeet and Suruchi delivered an outstanding performance from the very start of the final and consistently held the top spot. The Indian pair secured the gold medal by finishing the final with a score of 484.6 points. However, they fell just 3.8 points short of the world record.
Tough challenge from the South Korean pair
Following the qualification round in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, the top four pairs advanced to the medal round. The final featured teams from India, South Korea, Iran, and Indonesia.
The Indian duo faced a stiff challenge throughout the contest from South Korea’s Suhyun Hong and Gaun Chu. Nevertheless, Kamaljeet and Suruchi maintained their form to win the gold medal with a score of 484 points. The South Korean pair secured the silver medal with 478 points.
The Iranian pair finished third with 415.8 points to win the bronze medal, while the Indonesian team placed fourth with 349.4 points. Earlier, Kamaljeet and Suruchi had entered the final after topping the qualification round.
Silver for India in men’s 50m rifle 3 positions
India secured another shooting medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event. The Indian team, comprising Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Neeraj Kumar, and Rudrankksh Patil, won the silver medal. In the qualification round, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar scored 589 points, Neeraj Kumar 588, and Rudrankksh Patil 585. The Indian team’s total score was 1762 points. China won the gold medal with a score of 1766 points.
India’s medal tally at the 2026 Asian Games continues to rise. With these medals won in shooting, the Indian contingent has now secured a total of 19 medals, including 2 gold and 8 silver.
