SSC CGL Recruitment 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026. Tax Assistant (CBIC/CBDT): 1,820 posts
Assistant Section Officer (ASO-CSS): 1,150 posts
Auditor (CAG/CGDA): 980 posts
Examiner/Preventive Officer: 640 posts
The highest number of vacancies is reported for the post of Inspector (Central Excise/CBIC).
Eligibility Criteria
For most SSC CGL 2026 posts, candidates are required to hold a graduation degree from a recognized university or institution. A separate educational qualification is prescribed for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO). Candidates must have studied Statistics at the graduation level or secured at least 60% marks in Mathematics in Class 12.
What is the age limit?
Different age limits have been set for various posts. Generally, candidates should be between 18 and 30 years of age. For some posts, the maximum age limit is 32 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted relaxation in the maximum age limit in accordance with Central Government rules.
SSC CGL exam to be held in two stages
The SSC CGL examination will be conducted in multiple stages. The first stage will consist of a Computer-Based Objective Test (CBT). The second stage will include subject-specific tests as well as assessments for computer knowledge and Data Entry Speed Test (DEST).
A merit list will be prepared based on the candidates’ performance across all stages, and appointments to the various posts will be made accordingly.
