Raipur: Heavy rainfall in Chhattisgarh is now impacting rail traffic. Train speeds have been affected, and several long-distance trains arriving at Raipur station on Friday were delayed by hours. Passengers are facing significant inconvenience due to these delays.
On Friday, the Samta Express arrived in Raipur with a delay of about 3 hours, the Puri-Ahmedabad Express by 2 hours and 45 minutes, the Durg-Puri Express by 3 hours and 45 minutes, and the Visakhapatnam-Durg Express by approximately 2 hours. Additionally, reports indicate that local trains running between Durg and Raipur are being held up at the outer signals for extended periods, extending passengers’ travel time by over an hour.
Ambikapur Express consistently delayed
The scheduled arrival time for the Ambikapur Express at Raipur is 8:30 AM, yet for the past month, the train has been consistently arriving 3 to 4 hours late. Reports indicate that the train also runs with delays of several hours during its return journey.
These delays are significantly affecting passengers. In Ambikapur, passengers are forced to wait for the train until midnight or 1 AM, causing them considerable hardship.
Multiple trains delayed by hours between afternoon and evening
On Friday, several local and express trains scheduled to arrive in Raipur between 12 PM and 5 PM were delayed by 2 to 5 hours. It is reported that the delays for several trains increased progressively after departing from Durg.
The Sampark Kranti Express was delayed by 9 minutes upon reaching Raipur after departing from Durg. By the time it reached Bhatapara, the delay had increased to 29 minutes; it was 31 minutes late at Uslapur and 1 hour 40 minutes late by the time it reached Pendra Road. By the time it reached Shahdol, the train was running 2 hours and 3 minutes late.
Similarly, the South Bihar Express departed from Durg on schedule but was delayed by 5 minutes upon reaching Raipur. Subsequently, the delay increased to 31 minutes by the time it reached Tilda, and to 1 hour and 12 minutes by the time it arrived at Sakti.
Due to these persistent delays, passengers on both long-distance and local trains are facing inconvenience.
