Raipur: A Ganesh Visarjan (immersion) procession will be held in the capital, Raipur, on September 28. In preparation for the procession, the Raipur Traffic Police Commissionerate has announced special traffic diversion and parking arrangements. The procession will commence at 9 PM from Sharda Chowk and proceed via Jaistambh Chowk, Malviya Road, Kotwali Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Kankalipara Chowk, Purani Basti Police Station intersection, Lakhenagar Chowk, Sundarnagar Road, and Raipura Chowk, finally reaching the immersion site at Mahadev Ghat.
The movement of general traffic will be prohibited along the entire designated route during the procession. Only vehicles participating in the procession and devotees on foot will be permitted on this route. The traffic police have urged motorists to use designated alternative routes starting from 7 PM.
Commuting via these alternative routes
From the direction of Tatibandh: Commuters can travel towards Mahoba Bazar, Chaube Colony, Samta Colony, Telghani Naka, Railway Station Chowk, Fafadih Chowk, and Shastri Chowk. Additionally, the Ring Road No. 1 to Pachpedi Naka route can also be used.
From the direction of Bhanpuri: One can travel towards Tatibandh via Fafadih Chowk, Railway Station Chowk, and Telghani Naka. Movement is also possible from Fafadih towards Shastri Chowk, Kalibari, and Pachpedi Naka.
From the direction of Telibandha: Commuters can travel from Telibandha Chowk towards Shastri Chowk, Fafadih Chowk, and the Railway Station, or via the Kalibari route.
From the direction of Pachpedi Naka: The routes covering Pachpedi Naka, Tikrapara, Kalibari, Mahila Thana (Women’s Police Station), Shastri Chowk, Fafadih, and the Railway Station can be used.
Traffic restrictions on these routes
During the procession, vehicular movement will be completely prohibited on the following routes: Shastri Chowk to Jaystambh Chowk; Ashram Tiraha to Sharda Chowk/Jaystambh Chowk; Subhash Nagar Chowk-Maudhapara to Jaystambh Chowk; Fire Brigade Chowk to Kotwali; Budhapara Electricity Office Chowk to Kotwali; Lakhenagar Chowk to Purani Basti Police Station; Buddheshwar Chowk to Purani Basti Police Station; and Kankalipara to Sadar Bazar-Kotwali.
Parking arrangements for devotees
The traffic police have also designated parking sites for devotees arriving from various directions. From the direction of Pandri: Multilevel parking and the lanes of Rajbandha Maidan
From the direction of Civil Lines: Shastri Market, Seerat Maidan, and the area alongside Subhash Stadium
From the direction of Tikrapara/Kalibari: Sapre Shala Maidan, Indoor Stadium, and Gandhi Maidan
From the direction of Gudhiyari/Samta Colony: Bhaisthan Maidan and Jawaharlal Market parking
From the direction of Sundarnagar/Raipura: Hind Sports Maidan at Lakhenagar Chowk
