Sale of meat and mutton banned in this Chhattisgarh district on October 2; action will be taken against violators.

Raipur: The sale of meat and mutton will be completely prohibited within the Raipur Municipal Corporation area on October 2, the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The Health Department of the Municipal Corporation has issued an order to this effect, following a directive from the Urban Administration and Development Department of the Chhattisgarh Government.

According to the instructions, all slaughterhouses and meat shops within the municipal limits will remain closed on October 2. Furthermore, the sale of meat and mutton in hotels will also be banned. The Corporation has clarified that if anyone is found selling meat or mutton at any shop, hotel, or other location despite the ban, the stock will be confiscated on the spot. Additionally, action will be taken against the concerned individual or establishment in accordance with the rules.

Monitoring at the Zonal Level

To ensure compliance with the ban, Zonal Health Officers and Zonal Sanitation Inspectors of the Municipal Corporation will monitor shops and relevant establishments in their respective areas. Officials have been instructed to ensure the effective implementation of the order.

According to the Municipal Corporation administration, the Health Department has arranged for monitoring and enforcement actions based on the directives of Mayor Meenal Chaubey. The Corporation has appealed to all meat sellers and hotel operators to comply with the ban on October 2.
