Indian Coast Guard Recruitment 2026: There is good news for young people aspiring to join the Indian Coast Guard. The Indian Coast Guard has announced recruitment for various posts for candidates who have passed the 10th and 12th grades. Appointments will be made for the posts of Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Hygienist-I, and Yantrik. The official notification for this recruitment has been released, and the online application process has commenced.

Candidates will be selected through the Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT). Interested and eligible candidates can apply online by the specified deadline.

Which posts are included?

This Indian Coast Guard recruitment drive covers the posts of Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Hygienist-I, and Yantrik. According to available information, a total of 190 vacancies will be filled through this process.

Educational Qualifications

Navik (General Duty):
Candidates must have passed the 12th standard with Mathematics and Physics from a recognized board.

Navik (Domestic Branch):
Candidates must have passed the 10th standard from an education board recognized by COBSE.

Hygienist-I:
Candidates must have passed Matriculation, ITI, or an equivalent examination.

Yantrik:
Candidates who have passed the 10th standard and hold a diploma of the prescribed duration in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering are eligible to apply.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted age relaxation in accordance with the rules. There is a provision for a 3-year relaxation in the upper age limit for the OBC category and a 5-year relaxation for the SC/ST category.

How ​​will the selection take place?

Candidates for the Indian Coast Guard recruitment will have to go through several stages. First, a computer-based written exam will be conducted. The exam will consist of a total of 100 questions, with each question carrying one mark. There will be no negative marking. Candidates belonging to the General, EWS, and OBC categories must secure a minimum of 40% marks, while SC/ST candidates must secure 35% marks.

Candidates who qualify in the written exam will be called for the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Male candidates will be required to complete a 1.6-kilometer run in 6 minutes and 30 seconds. Additionally, they must perform 20 squats (uthak-baithak), 15 push-ups, and 15 bent-knee sit-ups.

Female candidates will be required to complete a 1.6-kilometer run in 8 minutes. Along with this, they must perform 15 squats, 10 push-ups, and 10 knee sit-ups.

Candidates who qualify in the PFT will proceed to the next stage, which involves an Assessment and Adaptability Test and document verification. Subsequently, a merit list will be prepared.

Training at INS Chilka

Candidates who successfully clear all the prescribed stages will be required to report to INS Chilka. Here, along with training, Aadhaar-based identity verification of the candidates will be conducted. Following this, a medical test will be administered by the Recruitment Medical Officer. Candidates will be required to submit their original documents, police verification forms, and other necessary paperwork during this stage.

What is the application fee?

Candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹550 for this recruitment. However, candidates from the SC and ST categories are exempted from the application fee.

According to available information, the Stage-I examination is likely to be held in early November 2026. The Stage-II process is proposed for late February 2027, with subsequent stages scheduled for early May 2027.
