Hijack alert on Air India flight; Frankfurt-Delhi flight makes emergency landing in Jaipur.

An Air India flight traveling from Frankfurt, Germany, to Delhi had to make an emergency landing at Jaipur Airport on Wednesday due to security reasons. Reports indicate that a ‘Squawk Code 7500’—which signals a hijacking—was received from the aircraft. Following this, an alert was issued to Air Traffic Control (ATC), and the plane landed safely in Jaipur. Security agencies are currently investigating the matter.

Alert triggered by Squawk Code 7500

According to reports, Ahmedabad ATC received an alert indicating that the aircraft had transmitted Squawk Code 7500. In the aviation sector, this code is used to signal a hijacking or a situation involving unlawful interference with the aircraft. Upon receiving the alert, the flight was diverted to Jaipur, where it landed safely.

After landing, the aircraft was moved to a separate area for a security check. However, it remains unclear under what circumstances the code was transmitted from the aircraft. Investigative agencies are working to determine whether there was an actual security threat or if the alert was triggered for another reason.

ATS and other security agencies investigating

Following the incident, teams from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and other security agencies have commenced an investigation at Jaipur Airport. The aircraft’s security and all related aspects are being thoroughly examined. Reports suggest that the National Security Guard (NSG) in Delhi has also been alerted and instructed to remain on standby.

For now, official information regarding the actual cause of the alert is awaited. The reason why the hijacking signal code was transmitted will only become clear once the investigation is complete.

Previous incident involving a bomb threat message

Earlier in August, an Air India Express flight traveling from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to Delhi was also diverted to Ahmedabad Airport for security reasons. During that time, a piece of tissue paper with the word ‘bomb’ written on it was found in the aircraft’s lavatory.

Subsequently, the aircraft made an emergency landing in Ahmedabad. All 32 passengers on board were safely disembarked.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the recent incident in Jaipur is underway. Security agencies are working to determine the reason behind the alert.
