Great news for employees in Chhattisgarh: medical treatment in hospitals will now be cashless—learn all about the system.

Raipur: There is welcome news for Chhattisgarh government employees and their dependent family members. In a meeting of the state Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, a proposal was approved to provide cashless medical facilities to government employees and their eligible dependents. The objective of this system is to alleviate the financial burden on employees during medical treatment and to simplify the process of medical reimbursement.

Once the new system is implemented, eligible employees and their dependents will be able to avail of cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals, subject to prescribed rules. This is expected to eliminate the need for employees to pay large sums out-of-pocket upfront and subsequently wait for reimbursement after submitting their medical bills.

Less burden of arranging funds for treatment

Under the current system, government employees often have to bear the initial costs of hospital treatment themselves. They are then required to submit medical bills and necessary documentation to apply for reimbursement. This process can be time-consuming and often causes financial strain for the employees.

The cashless medical facility aims to streamline this process, ensuring that eligible employees do not have to arrange for large amounts of money at the time of treatment. This system will be particularly beneficial in cases of serious illness, accidents, or medical emergencies.

Benefits extended to dependent family members

The proposal approved by the state Council of Ministers includes not only government employees but also their eligible dependent family members. This means that family members who meet the scheme’s criteria will also be able to access cashless treatment at designated hospitals.

In the event of a sudden illness or accident, the financial pressure on a family often increases. The availability of cashless treatment will provide relief to eligible families, sparing them the worry of having to arrange immediate funds for medical care.

Online processing for approvals and claims

To ensure the new system is both simple and transparent, a digital framework has been incorporated. Under this, the processes for obtaining pre-approval for treatment and submitting medical claims will be handled entirely online. This could help streamline the exchange of information between employees, hospitals, and relevant departments, while also simplifying the formalities associated with medical reimbursement.

Cashless facility available at empanelled hospitals

Under this scheme, medical treatment will be available exclusively at designated empanelled hospitals. Therefore, it is essential for employees to be aware of which hospitals in their respective cities or districts are included in the scheme.

At present, the final list of hospitals, the maximum coverage limits for treatment, detailed eligibility criteria, and the specific date for the scheme’s implementation have not yet been clarified. The situation will become clear once the government issues detailed guidelines on these matters.

Employees await detailed guidelines

This decision by the state government, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, is being viewed as a significant step toward ensuring the health security of government employees and their families. The objective of the scheme is to alleviate the financial burden incurred during medical treatment and to simplify the process of obtaining reimbursement for medical expenses.

Employees are now looking forward to further details regarding the scheme’s implementation, eligibility rules, the list of empanelled hospitals, and the date on which the facility will become operational. The complete procedure for availing cashless medical treatment will only become clear once the detailed guidelines are issued.
