Taiwan Earthquake Devastation: Strong earthquake of 7.4 magnitude hits Taiwan, Skyscrapers Collapsed, Witness the Aftermath in 5 Shocking Videos, Tsunami warning issued

Taiwan Earthquake: The epicenter of the earthquake was 18 kilometers (11 miles) south of Taiwan's Hualien city at a depth of 34.8 kilometers. Japan's Meteorological Agency said the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.5.

Taiwan Earthquake Video: Taiwan was shaken by strong earthquakes on Wednesday (3 April) morning. Its intensity was measured at 7.5 on the Richter scale. Due to such strong tremors, buildings have collapsed in many cities of Taiwan. Landslides have also been witnessed in many areas of the country. This is the most severe earthquake in the last 25 years. The last time such a terrible earthquake occurred was in 1999, in which more than 2500 people lost their lives, while 1300 were injured.

After the earthquake, power supply to 87000 houses has been disrupted. Due to the earthquake in Taiwan, the most devastation has been in the city named Hualin, which was also the epicenter of the tremors. Due to the devastation in this island country, electricity and internet services have been shut down. Train service has also been suspended. After the earthquake, apart from Taiwan, tsunami alert has been issued in Japan and Philippines as well. While tremors of 7.5 magnitude were felt in Hualin, an earthquake of 7.2 magnitude hit the capital Taipei.

Taiwan’s Hualien earthquake causes the most destruction

According to a Reuters report, the city of Hualien has suffered the most damage, where many buildings have collapsed. Being the epicenter of the earthquake, roads have also been damaged here. There are also reports of people being trapped in the collapsed buildings. The local administration of Taipei says that there is no report of large-scale damage in the city so far. Taiwan’s high-speed rail operator said that there is no report of any damage to its trains or injuries to anyone, but investigations are still going on, due to which trains will run late. 

Tsunami begins to hit Japan

After the earthquake in neighboring country Taiwan, Japan also issued an advisory for the people of the coastal areas of the southern province of Okinawa. The tsunami alert issued by Japan said that waves as high as 3 meters (10 feet) could hit the south-west coast. People have been asked to vacate the coastal areas and move to higher places. The Japan Meteorological Agency has said that according to local time, a one-foot high tsunami hit the Yonaguni Island at 9.18 am. 

Alert in Philippines, tremors felt in China too

An alert has been issued in the Philippines after the earthquake. The country’s seismological agency has issued a warning for people in several coastal states. They have been asked to stay away from coastal areas. An eyewitness told Reuters that the tremors of the earthquake were felt as far as Shanghai in China. Chinese media has reported that people in Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou and Ningde cities of the country’s Fujian province have felt the tremors of the earthquake. However, no alert has been issued in China.
