T20 World Cup: Rohit’s Blazing 200 Sixes and India’s Semi-Final Entry; Australia Crushed by 24 Runs| Knockout Match Announced: Opponent and Date Revealed

T20 World Cup 2024: India has entered the semi-finals by defeating Australia by 24 runs. The excellent performance of Rohit Sharma and Arshdeep Singh contributed significantly to the team's victory.

IND vs AUS T20 World Cup 2024: India defeated Australia by 24 runs in the last match of Super-8. Rohit Sharma, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav made the biggest contribution to India’s victory. Rohit played a stormy innings of 92 runs in 41 balls, while Kuldeep Yadav came in the middle overs and took 2 important wickets. Apart from him, Arshdeep Singh was once again successful in taking a lot of wickets. He took 3 wickets in the match. India had put 205 runs on the scoreboard while playing first. But when Australia came out to chase the target, Travis Head stood firm from one end, but he did not get support from the other end. Head scored 76 runs in 43 balls, but could not take Australia’s boat to victory. Australia’s defeat must have aroused enthusiasm in the Afghanistan camp because now it can go to the semi-finals only by defeating Bangladesh.

India gave a target of 206 runs

India lost the toss and came to bat first. Although Virat Kohli got out on a score of zero, Rohit Sharma stole the show by scoring 92 runs in 41 balls. He hit 7 fours and 8 sixes in his innings and during this, he also hit 4 sixes in a single over of Mitchell Starc. Suryakumar Yadav also scored 31 runs in 16 balls in a stormy manner. In the last overs, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dubey together took Team India’s score beyond 200 runs. Hardik scored 27 runs in 17 balls and Dubey scored 28 runs in 22 balls.

Australia recovers from initial setback

Just like India got an early blow in the form of Virat Kohli, Arshdeep Singh gave a big blow to Australia by dismissing David Warner in the very first over. But after this, there was an 81-run partnership between captain Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head. Marsh was playing well, but Akshar Patel took an incredible catch on the boundary. Marsh scored 37 runs in 28 balls. Glenn Maxwell supported Travis Head for some time, but he was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav after scoring 20 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah turned the tables by dismissing Travis Head

Australia needed 58 runs to win in the last 4 overs. Travis Head was still at the crease and was batting aggressively. Meanwhile, Jaspreet Bumrah came to bowl in the 17th over, who deceived Travis Head with a slow ball and got him caught by Rohit Sharma. The Indian camp must have breathed a sigh of relief with the fall of Head’s wicket. This over of Bumrah proved to be more lethal because he gave only 5 runs in this over.

Rohit Sharma and Arshdeep Singh shine

Captain Rohit Sharma laid the foundation of victory for India. He thrashed the Australian bowlers and completed his fifty in just 19 balls. He played a brilliant innings of 92 runs in 41 balls and made a significant contribution in helping India reach the score of 205 runs. Arshdeep Singh took the most wickets for Team India in bowling. Arshdeep took 3 important wickets for 37 runs in 4 overs.

Kohli could not open his account again

After losing the toss and batting first, India had a bad start. Virat Kohli once again failed to live up to expectations. This time he could not even open his account. But Rohit Sharma recovered India from this setback in one go. Virat Kohli was out in the second over of the match and Rohit Sharma hit 29 runs in the third over. This brought the momentum of the match in India’s favour.

Australia Pins Semi-Final Hopes on Bangladesh: A Narrow Win Keeps Dreams Alive

Now Australia’s all hopes of playing semi-final rest on Bangladesh. The match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be played after some time. If Afghanistan wins in this match then it will qualify for semi-final. That is why Australia’s team will pray for Afghanistan’s defeat and Bangladesh’s victory. But even Bangladesh’s victory will not end Australia’s crisis completely. If Bangladesh wins by a small margin then Australia will reach semi-final. If Bangladesh wins by a margin of 62 runs or more then it will reach semi-final itself. Then both Australia and Afghanistan will be out of this race.

Rohit Sharma completes 200 sixes, achieved the feat by hitting 4 sixes in Starc’s over

Rohit Sharma 200 Sixes: Rohit Sharma has become the first batsman to complete 200 sixes in the history of international T20 cricket. Before the match against Australia in the Super-8 match, Rohit had hit 195 sixes in his international T20 career, but now by hitting 5 sixes in the match against Australia, he has touched the figure of 200 sixes. In this match, Rohit scored a total of 29 runs by hitting 4 sixes and a four in Mitchell Starc’s over. In the same match against Australia, Rohit has also scored the third fastest half-century in the history of T20 World Cup for India.

200 sixes completed

Rohit Sharma had already made the record of hitting the most sixes in international T20 cricket a long time ago. Rohit Sharma has set the record of hitting 200 sixes in the 157th T20 match of his career. New Zealand’s Martin Guptill is at the second place in this list, who has hit 173 sixes so far. At the same time, Jos Buttler, who is at number three, is far behind him, who has hit 137 sixes so far. Talking about the Indian batsman who has hit the second most sixes in T20 cricket, he is Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar has hit 129 sixes in 66 matches so far.

Third fastest fifty for India

Even though Virat Kohli got out early in the Super-8 match against Australia, Rohit Sharma looked in great form. He hit fours and sixes continuously and completed his half-century in just 19 balls, which is the third fastest half-century scored by an Indian batsman in the history of T20 World Cup. Before him, KL Rahul had completed his fifty in 18 balls in the 2021 World Cup. At the same time, the record of scoring the fastest half-century in the history of T20 World Cup is still in the name of Yuvraj Singh, who completed 50 runs in just 12 balls in the 2007 World Cup.

Match Analysis: 3 Reasons for India’s victory

1- Rohit Sharma’s 92 runs

Rohit Sharma played an innings of 92 runs. This innings did not let India’s run rate go below 10 from the power play to the middle overs. Due to these 92 runs, Team India reached 205 runs. Half of the runs in the target given by India were from Rohit Sharma.

2- Rohit’s captaincy, bowling change

Even though 205 runs had to be chased, Rohit Sharma knew that Australia cannot be taken lightly. This is what happened, Head’s innings troubled them. But Rohit Sharma kept changing the field. He did not let the mix of spin and pace deteriorate. Due to this, the Australian batsmen were not able to get comfortable in front of the bowling. Only Travis Head was able to score big quickly. Apart from him and Marsh, no batsman was able to score more than 20 runs.

3- The bowlers kept taking wickets continuously

Australia’s run rate was around 10 till 12 overs. But Kuldeep, Akshar, Arshdeep and Bumrah bowled tightly. Especially the Australians could not score many runs on the balls of Akshar Patel and Bumrah. These bowlers continuously took the wickets of Australian batsmen. The pressure of runs and wickets increased on the Kangaroos.

Team India reached the semi-finals, will face this team in the knockouts, know on which day the match will be held

India won all three of its Super Eight matches and remained on top with six points. The Indian team will now face England in the semi-finals on June 27.
Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh still have a chance to qualify for the last four from Group A.
