Syria Turns into a ‘Ball of Fire’: Rebels Close In on Capital, Assad Reportedly Flees!

Syria News: Bashar al-Assad's government is currently facing a threat in Syria. After capturing the city of Aleppo, the rebels are rapidly advancing to capture the capital Damascus. They say that they have surrounded the capital.

Syria News: Syria has become a ball of fire due to war. The rebels have claimed to have surrounded the capital Damascus from all sides. While Bashar al-Assad’s army has refused to retreat. At the same time, reports of President Bashar al-Assad leaving the country are coming out. However, one of his ministers has denied this. On the other hand, Syrian rebels claimed on Saturday that they are in the final stages of surrounding the capital Damascus as part of a major attack. The Islamist-led coalition led by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group has announced that they are getting closer to the capital. While the Israeli army is also advancing with its tanks on the border of the Golan Heights.

Rebel commander Hassan Abdel Ghani said that our army has started the final phase of surrounding the capital Damascus. He said that the rebels are now within 20 kilometers of Damascus, while the government army is struggling to capture the ground. However, the Syrian government has clearly denied any withdrawal. The Defense Ministry said that there is no truth in the news that our army present in all the areas of the Damascus countryside has withdrawn.

Major blow to Syrian government

Despite the Syrian government’s claims, Abdel Ghani and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights have reported heavy losses to government forces. This includes the loss of military bases in the southern Daraa province and Quneitra near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

At the same time, Israel has deployed its tanks on the border of the Golan Heights. The war monitoring organization further said that government forces are also retreating from towns located just 10 kilometers (six miles) from Damascus. Abdel Ghani had earlier said that our army was controlling security in the countryside of Damascus. They continue to move towards the capital.

Russia bombed

Government forces, backed by its ally Russia, have launched air strikes and artillery to slow the rebel advance. The rebel gains mark a dramatic escalation in Syria’s long-running civil war, which had largely reached a standstill in recent years.

With the capture of key cities such as Aleppo and Hama, the rebels now say they are on the doorstep of Damascus, bringing the fight directly to power for President Bashar al-Assad.
