EPF New Rules: EPFO gives relief, check book-passbook will not be required for claim

EPF New Rules: EPFO has given a big relief to its crores of subscribers by changing the rules. This will speed up the process of EPF claims.

EPF New Rules: EPFO has changed the rules of its claim, giving a big relief to crores of subscribers across the country. Now the requirement of canceled check or bank passbook for EPF claim settlement has been abolished. Giving information in this matter, EPFO has said that if a subscriber fulfills all the other conditions, then in such a situation he has been given the exemption to upload the check book or bank passbook for claim settlement. This will speed up the cases of online claim settlement. It is worth noting that EPFO used to reject many claims due to not uploading the image of the check leaf or attested bank passbook copy.

EPFO issued circular

On May 28, EPFO issued a circular in this regard and informed that EPFO has changed the rules for settlement of claims filed online. Some changes have been made in the rules to reduce the number of claim rejections due to non-uploading of check leaf or bank account details, but this exemption has been given only in some cases of validation.

Exemption will be given in these cases

EPFO has informed in its circular that only those EPFO members will get exemption whose other validations are completed. This includes processes like online verification of KYC by the bank, bank KYC verification by the employer through DSC (Digital Signature Certificate) and verification of Aadhaar number through UIDAI.

Bank details for EPF claim

Earlier, to complete the EPF claim, a cancelled cheque of your account containing the member’s name, bank account number and IFSC code was required. This gives EPF the details of your bank account. In case of no cheque, the EPF member can also submit the bank passbook (signed by the bank manager) as account details. For this, the EPF member must have a Universal Account Number. Along with this, your Aadhaar number or bank account KYC must be completed and validated with the UAN number.

How can EPF members claim online?

1. For this, first of all enter your UAN number and password on the EPFO member official portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/.
2. Next click on the claim section here.
3. Here choose one of the types of claim like pension or full settlement.
4. Next you will see the pre-filled details. Cross verify it.
5. Next you can take advantage of the exemption given by EPFO and upload all the documents or data asked for.
6. After this, validate all the information and submit the claim.
7. After this, keep an eye on the process of your claim through the portal.
