For this, the General Insurance Council (GIC) started the Cashless Everywhere campaign on Wednesday. Under this campaign, policyholders will get the freedom to get their treatment done in any hospital. With this, policyholders will now get the facility of cashless treatment in hospitals outside their policy network.

Customer used to face such problem

Till now, people having health insurance could get the facility of cashless treatment only in those hospitals which were part of their insurance company’s network. Earlier, if he got treatment in any other hospital, he had to pay from his own pocket. Later the policyholder used to make a claim with the insurance company, which was passed after verification.

Campaign started for this reason

Many times it took a lot of time for the treatment to be completed and then for the policyholder to make a claim. After that the insurance company also spent time in claim verification and other processes. This meant that the policyholder had to arrange money for treatment for some time even after the policy was issued. Due to this, an important objective of health insurance was not fulfilled, which is to provide financial security to the policy holder against diseases.

Decision after consultation with insurance companies

Keeping this in mind, GIC has decided to remove network restrictions in the case of cashless treatment. The council consulted with general and health insurance companies before launching the cashless everywhere initiative. After that, it was decided to start this campaign, so that health insurance holders can get their treatment in any hospital without worrying about financial arrangements.

You will get the benefits of cashless everywhere like this:

  • In case of emergency, the customer will have to inform the insurance company within 48 hours of admission.
  • If there is no emergency case, the insurance company should be informed 48 hours before admission.
  • The claim should be admissible in the insurance policy held by the customer.
  • Cashless facility should be included in the customer’s policy.
