Devara Part 1 Movie Review: Junior NTR in double role… how much attention will ‘Devara’ be able to attract?

Devara Part 1 Movie Review: Inspired by SS Rajamouli, Shiva has definitely tried to do something big, but he could not succeed in it. The story of the film seems very weak. There is nothing new in it. Also, the screenplay and dialogues are also not such that they can compensate for the weak story.

Devara Part 1 Movie Review: Junior NTR, Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor starrer film ‘Devra’ has been released in theatres today. There was a lot of craze among the people about this film. Directed by writer turned director Koratala Siva, this film has not lived up to the expectations. From the story of the film to its screenplay and dialogues, there are flaws in everything. Shiva could not succeed in making Junior NTR a ‘Baahubali’, although his hard work is definitely visible in the film. From the poster of the film itself, people had guessed that Junior NTR is playing a double role in the film.

Devara Part 1 Movie Review: Jr NTR’s Double Role, Attention Grabber?
The film ‘Devra Part 1’ released in theatres on 27 September

First of all, let’s talk about the story of the film. The story of the film is based on those 4 villages which are situated on the sea coast, through which ships going towards the ports pass. Earlier these villages were known for protecting their king, but after the country got independence from the British, everything changed here. With time, generations changed and then the people of these villages became pirates. Devra lives in one of these villages, who initially helps a gang smuggling illegal weapons, but later when he realizes that this will harm his village, he stands against it.

Devara Part 1 Movie Review: Jr NTR’s Double Role, Attention Grabber?
Deora : 2.5/5

on the screen: 27 September 2024

Director : Kortala Shiva

Music : Anirudh Ravichander

Artist : Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rameshwari, Prakash Raj, Shruti Marathe, Abhimanyu Singh and others

Style : Action drama

When Devra tries to follow the right path, some goons from the rest of the village stand against him. In the film, you will see Shruti Marathe in the role of Devra’s wife. At the same time, Saif Ali Khan will be seen playing the villain as ‘Bhaira’.

By the way, looking at Saif in the film, it seems that Shiva has not given any special treatment to his character. The way a villain is presented on screen in South Indian films, that flaw was seen in Saif. From Saif’s dialogues to his look and getup, there is nothing special.

Janhvi Kapoor is also in the film. You must know this. It is nice to see Janhvi as an attraction in the film. In the film, you will be able to see her in the role of Thangam, who is the lover of Devra’s son Vardha. First Devra and then his son Vardha… Due to the dual role, Junior NTR is seen more on screen in the film. Shiva tried his best to make Junior NTR a ‘Baahubali’ in the entire film, but he could not succeed in it.

The story of the film seems very weak. There is nothing new in it. Also, the screenplay and dialogues are not such that they can compensate for the weak story. The story of the film is not yet complete, its second part is yet to come, but after watching the first part, the audience will hardly want to go to its second part.

It is not that there is any lack in Junior NTR’s acting. His hard work is clearly visible in the film. Talking about acting, the rest of the star cast Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rameshwari, Prakash Raj, Shruti Marathe, Abhimanyu Singh have also done justice to their characters.

Inspired by SS Rajamouli, Shiva has definitely tried to do something big, but he could not succeed in it. Yes, you may like some songs like ‘Chuttamalle’ in the film. By the way, this film can be watched for entertainment, although you cannot expect much from it. 2.5 stars for the film from my side.

Devara Part 1 Movie Review – Summary

Weak Storyline: The plot revolves around coastal villages turning to piracy post-independence, but the story lacks freshness and depth.

Junior NTR’s Double Role: Despite his commendable performance and effort, the film fails to elevate him to the level of ‘Baahubali.’

Underwhelming Villain: Saif Ali Khan’s portrayal of ‘Bhaira’ lacks the typical grandeur seen in South Indian film antagonists.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Role: Though attractive on screen, Janhvi’s character doesn’t add much substance to the story.

Flawed Execution: Director Koratala Siva’s ambitious attempt falls short with weak screenplay, dialogues, and an incomplete narrative for part one.
