Javed Akhtar on Animal Movie: Many famous personalities from the cinema world attended the ‘Ajanta Ellora International Film Festival’ in Aurangabad. Javed Akhtar also participated in the film festival. He spoke openly about the films and songs being made in Hindi cinema. He termed the success of Ranbir Kapoor starrer film ‘Animal’ as dangerous and placed the responsibility on the audience.
According to media reports, Javed Akhtar, without naming Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Animal’, said, ‘If there is any film in which a man asks a woman to kiss her shoes or considers it normal to slap a woman. And if that film becomes a superhit, then it is dangerous.’
The lyricist was referring to a scene between the characters of Ranbir Kapoor and Trupti Dimri in ‘Animal’. The slapping scene could be a reference to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s previous film ‘Kabir Singh’, in which Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani are in lead roles. Let us tell you that ‘Animal’ has earned more than Rs 890 crore from the box office.
Javed Akhtar explained the point by giving the example of a popular song
Javed Akhtar further mentions the song ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ written by Anand Bakshi, which was a superhit despite being in controversies in the 90s. He says, ‘People are surprised why there are so many problems in today’s songs.
Take ‘Choli Ke Peechee’ for example. The problem is not that it was made by 7 men and 2 women together. The problem was that the audience had made it a hit. Crores of people liked the song and it was scary.’
Javed Akhtar fixed the responsibility of the audience
Javed Akhtar held the audience responsible for making such films and songs hits. He said, ‘Today the audience has a bigger responsibility than the filmmaker. You are responsible for the kind of movies you watch.
This decides what kind of films will be made. You decide what should be made and what should be rejected. You decide what kind of values and morality will be shown in our films.’
