With cyber and digital frauds increasingly targeting senior citizens, Bank of India, New Delhi on 21 January 2026 conducted an awareness programme on fraud and risk mitigation for its staff members including branch headsof 82 branches, business vertical Head viz RBC, SMECC, SMEUCto strengthen the capacity of its field functionaries to prevent, detect and report fraudulent activities.
The programme held at New Delhi was addressed by Field General Manager, New Delhi Shri Lokesh Krishna. He discussed on common fraud patterns encountered at the field level and the precautions to be taken to avoid them. In addition, Shri Vasu Dev, General Manager from the Fraud Risk Management Department, Head Office, Mumbai, who was present specifically for the programme, addressed the participants. He highlighted key aspects of various types of operational, cyber and digital frauds.
Special attention was given to cyber frauds affecting senior citizens across the country, including cases related to so-called digital arrests, KYC updation through APK files and clicking on unauthorised links. Participants were sensitised about early warning signals, due diligence practices and the need for strict adherence to established guidelines and standard operating procedures. He advised bank staff to actively sensitise senior citizens about such frauds and to inform them about using the national cybercrime helpline number 1930.

He also briefed participants about the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre, an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs aimed at preventing, detecting, investigating and pro-secuting cybercrimes in a coordinated manner.
