Bharat Bandh: The Aarakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has called for a Bharat Bandh on Wednesday (August 21) to protest the Supreme Court‘s recent decision regarding Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) reservation. The bandh, which has received significant support from SC/ST communities across Rajasthan, is expected to receive widespread participation from across the country.
Officials have been instructed to take strict measures to maintain law and order during protests. The Supreme Court’s decision to allow states to sub-classify SC and ST groups has given rise to widespread controversy. The purpose of this decision is to give priority to providing reservation to the most needy people, but various social and political organizations have strongly opposed it.

The Aarakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has called for a shutdown of all business establishments to show solidarity with the protest. However, according to a report in the Times of India, it is uncertain whether markets across the country will follow suit, as there has been no official confirmation from the market committees. While the shutdown is expected to disrupt public transport and private sector operations, essential services such as ambulances will continue.
According to various media reports, despite the shutdown call, government offices, banks, schools, colleges and petrol pumps will remain open. Apart from this, emergency services including medical care, drinking water, public transport, rail services and electricity supply will remain operational.

Anticipating the possibility of unrest, police forces across the country have increased their presence, especially in districts deemed sensitive. A high-level meeting was convened via video conferencing, attended by divisional commissioners, district magistrates and senior police officers. DGP UR Sahu said, “We have directed our officers to hold talks with the groups organising the shutdown as well as market associations to ensure effective cooperation.”

2. Schools will remain closed in Sri Ganganagar
There will be a holiday in educational institutions on Wednesday. Schools will remain closed in Sri Ganganagar and Anupgarh districts. Other educational institutions including coaching will remain closed due to the proposed Bharat Bandh.
3. Schools and Anganwadi centres will remain closed in Bikaner.
In view of the proposed Bharat Bandh in Bikaner district, all government and private schools, coaching centres, Anganwadis and madrasas will remain closed. District Collector Namrata Vrishni issued orders.

9. Didwana: There will be a holiday in schools, colleges and coaching institutes in Didwana district. Holiday has been declared in view of Bharat Bandh. Didwana District Collector Balmukund Asawa declared the holiday.
10. Ajmer: In view of the call for Bharat Bandh, Beawar Collector has declared holiday in private and government schools. Beawar Police Administration is on alert regarding the bandh.
11. Bhilwara: Police and administration are on alert mode regarding the proposed Bharat Bandh on Wednesday. In view of the bandh, all coaching institutes, libraries, hostels, Anganwadis operating in the Municipal Council area of ​​Bhilwara will remain closed tomorrow. Holiday has been declared for students.
12. Tonk:Â Schools have been declared closed due to Bharat Bandh. Collector Dr. Saumya Jha has issued orders. Government and private schools, coaching institutes, libraries, hostels, Anganwadis and colleges have been declared closed. The collector has also issued orders to keep liquor shops closed.
