Farmer’s Protest: Farmers protesting on the border of Punjab-Haryana are going to hold Rail Roko agitation on Sunday (10 March). The protesting farmers have been preparing for this for the last one week. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has requested people to support the Rail Roko movement. He has also told how long the movement is going to last. At present the farmers are standing at Khanauri and Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana.Â
Farmers protested against minimum support price (MSP), justice to the farmers killed in Lakhimpur Kheri, cancellation of cases registered against farmers, loan waiver and pension for farmers during the protests in 2020-21. going. What time will the Rail Roko movement start?
Sarwan Singh Pandher said, ‘As part of the movement started on February 13 at the Punjab-Haryana border, we have called for Rail Roko movement across the country. We request the farmers, laborers and common people of the country to come in large numbers and support our Rail Roko movement. He told that the Rail Roko movement will start from 12 noon, which will continue till 4 pm.
Pandher said, ‘We would like to request those who want to travel by train today not to travel from 12 noon to 4 pm. Today during these four hours they should not go towards trains. People may have to face some inconvenience today. This is a partial Rail Roko movement.
Where will the Rail Roko movement take place?
According to news agency PTI, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that the protesting farmers will sit on the railway tracks at many places in Punjab including Ferozepur, Amritsar, Rupnagar, Gurdaspur districts. Altogether 60 places have been selected where farmers are going to put pressure on the government by blocking the railway tracks. The protesting farmers say that to support them, demonstrations will be held on railway tracks in different parts of the country.
Which things will be affected and where will it not be affected?
Due to the farmers’ Rail Roko movement, the biggest impact is going to be on rail traffic. There is a possibility of delay in trains passing through Punjab-Haryana. Trains going from different parts of the country to Punjab-Haryana or from there to other parts including Delhi may be delayed for a few hours. The rail roko movement of farmers is to take place in the afternoon. The greater impact of the farmers’ Rail Roko movement is going to be visible in these two states.
At the same time, due to Rail Roko movement, it is not going to have much impact on the roads. In such a situation, road traffic is going to be smooth. There will be no hindrance of any kind in the supply of essential goods. Farmers are currently on the Punjab-Haryana border, hence essential goods are reaching other areas including the capital Delhi through Haryana. There is some difficulty in bringing the goods coming from Punjab.
