Patanjali Toothpaste: A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court regarding Patanjali’s product Divya Dant Manjan. It has been claimed that the product contains non-vegetarian material.
Petitioner Advocate Yatin Sharma has alleged that the company uses a non-vegetarian substance called ‘sea foam’ (cuttlefish) in its ‘Divya Dant Manjan’. Advocate Yatin Sharma also stated that despite the use of non-vegetarian ingredients, the product has been given a green i.e. vegetarian label.

On this, the court has issued notice to Patanjali Ayurveda and Baba Ramdev and sought their reply. Justice Sanjeev Narula also issued notice to the central government and Patanjali’s Divya Pharmacy, which manufactures this product. The next hearing of the case will be on November 28.
Petitioner’s claim – His sentiments were hurt
Petitioner Yatin has claimed that Yoga Guru Ramdev himself admitted in a video that cuttlefish is used in his product. Despite this, the company is doing wrong branding and calling the toothpaste vegetarian.
The court was told that the petitioner and his family were unhappy as they use only vegetarian products. Their feelings were hurt when they came to know that sea foam was used in Divya Dant Manjan.
Claim to strengthen gums
According to Patanjali’s website, Divya Dant Manjan is the most powerful medicinal product for gums as well as teeth. Using this tooth powder strengthens gums. Due to this, dental problems like pyorrhea (bleeding and pus flowing from gums) are cured.
The ban on Patanjali’s medicines license has been lifted
The Uttarakhand government has stayed its order of May 17, in which the license of 14 products of Patanjali Ayurveda and Divya Pharmacy was cancelled. The government stayed its order after a high level committee presented its initial investigation report.
On April 30, the state government suspended the manufacturing license of 14 products of Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda and Divya Pharmacy. The license authority of the Uttarakhand government also issued an order banning the products. It said that the company’s license has been stopped due to repeatedly publishing misleading advertisements about Patanjali Ayurveda products.
