Folk singer Sharda Sinha: Bihar Kokila Sharda Sinha has passed away. The folk singer was battling cancer. She breathed her last at the age of 72. Sharda Sinha was ill for a long time after which she was admitted to Delhi AIIMS. The legendary singer was on ventilator and died at 9:20 pm tonight after suffering refractory shock due to septicemia.
Sharda Sinha’s son Anshuman Sinha posted on his mother’s ex account and informed about her demise. Sharing a picture of Sharda Sinha, he wrote – ‘ All of you will always pray and love for mother. Chhathi Maiya has called mother to her. Mother is no longer physically present amongst us.’

She was admitted to AIIMS since October 26
Sharda Sinha was shifted to a private ward on November 3 itself. Her oxygen level was decreasing, due to which she was again shifted to the ICU on November 4. She was admitted to Delhi AIIMS for the last 11 days.
When his health deteriorated, he was admitted to the oncology ward. He was having trouble eating and drinking for a long time, for which he was undergoing treatment. On the morning of October 26, his health deteriorated a lot.
New song released before Chhath
Folk singer Sharda Sinha’s new song video has been released before Chhath Puja. The video has been released from her official YouTube channel. The lyrics of the song are… ‘Dukhvaa Mitaaiin Chhathi Maiya…. Raue Aasra Hamaar… Sabke Purveli Mansa… Hamro Sunali Pukar.’ Its audio was released 5 days ago.

PM Modi had called Anshuman Sinha to inquire about his health
On the evening of 4 November, Sharda Sinha’s oxygen level had dropped significantly, after which she was put on ventilator. On Tuesday itself, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken to Sharda Sinha’s son Anshuman Sinha over the phone to inquire about her health.
Sharda Sinha was born in Supaul district of Bihar
on 1 October 1952 in Hulas of Supaul district of Bihar. She has done Bachelor of Education and MA in Music. Her father Sukhdev Thakur used to be a senior officer in the education department. Sharda Sinha’s husband’s name was Brajkishore Sinha. He died recently of brain hemorrhage. They have two children. Son’s name is Anshuman Sinha and daughter’s name is Vandana.

Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary expressed grief over the demise and wrote, ‘The voice of Sharda Sinha ji, who decorated the Chhath Mahaparva with melodious songs and gave Bihar a new identity in the field of art, has now gone silent. She breathed her last at AIIMS, Delhi. She was admitted to the hospital after falling seriously ill. May Chhathi Maiya give shelter to Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Swar Kokila in her feet, this is my prayer. In this hour of grief, may Chhathi Maiya give strength to her family to bear the grief.
