Congress Candidate List: Kanhaiya Kumar to Contest Against Manoj Tiwari; Former CM Channi Also Receives Ticket as Congress Releases List of 10 Candidates

Congress Candidate List: Congress has announced the names of 10 candidates from three states for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Congress has given ticket to experienced leader JP Aggarwal from Delhi's Chandni Chowk seat.

Elections 2024, Congress Candidate List: In view of Lok Sabha 2024, Congress released another list of candidates on Sunday (April 14). In this list, the names of 10 candidates from three states have been announced by the Congress. Congress has given ticket to Kanhaiya Kumar from North East Delhi. Kanhaiya Kumar will challenge Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Manoj Tiwari. The party has announced candidates for three Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, six in Punjab and one in Uttar Pradesh.

JP Aggarwal given ticket from Chandni Chowk seat

While JP Aggarwal has been given ticket from Delhi’s Chandni Chowk seat and Udit Raj from North West Delhi. Congress has given ticket to Dharamvir Gandhi from Patiala, Punjab, Sukhpal Singh Khaira from Sangrur, Gurjeet Aujla from Amritsar, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi from Jalandhar and Ujjwal Revati Raman Singh from Allahabad.

Kanhaiya Kumar is contesting elections for the second time

37-year-old Kanhaiya Kumar hails from Begusarai in Bihar, this time he will contest the Lok Sabha elections for the second time. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he contested from the Begusarai Lok Sabha seat on a Communist Party of India (CPI) ticket against Union Minister Giriraj Singh. In that election, he lost by more than 4 lakh votes. Former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar joined the Congress in 2021 and was included in the Congress Working Committee in 2023.

Manoj Tiwari has been an MP twice

Manoj Tiwari is a two-time MP from North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat. In the last Lok Sabha elections, he defeated former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit. Congress candidate JP Agarwal will contest against BJP’s Praveen Khandelwal from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat. Jai Prakash Agarwal had won this seat in 1984, 1989 and 1996. Udit Raj will contest against BJP leader Yogendra Chandolia from North-West Delhi.
