According to sources, elections may be held in 6-7 phases in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Apart from this, 2-3 phases in Rajasthan, 3-4 phases in Madhya Pradesh, 1 phase in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. In the northeastern states, except Assam and Manipur, elections can be held in 1 phase.
At the same time, the Commission can conduct elections first in those states where the heat is more. It is possible that elections may be held first in those states where the temperature rises more. Voting may take place earlier in states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana.

The Election Commission, in a post on social media platform ‘X’, said that a press conference will be held at 3 pm on Saturday to announce the schedule of Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections in some states. Before this, the Election Commission met for about 45 minutes on Friday (15 March) in which the preparations for the elections were reviewed. Today itself, newly appointed Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu have taken charge at the Election Commission headquarters.

The tenure of the current Lok Sabha will end on June 16, 2024. Before this the new Lok Sabha has to be formed.
