Elections 2024: Dates to be announced today, How many phases will the Lok Sabha elections be held in? Complete details from UP, Bihar to Maharashtra

The Election Commission will hold a press conference in the afternoon in which information about the entire election program will be given. Meanwhile, important information is coming out regarding how many phases elections can be held in the country.

According to sources, elections may be held in 6-7 phases in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Apart from this, 2-3 phases in Rajasthan, 3-4 phases in Madhya Pradesh, 1 phase in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. In the northeastern states, except Assam and Manipur, elections can be held in 1 phase.

At the same time, the Commission can conduct elections first in those states where the heat is more. It is possible that elections may be held first in those states where the temperature rises more. Voting may take place earlier in states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana.

 What did the Election Commission say?

The Election Commission, in a post on social media platform ‘X’, said that a press conference will be held at 3 pm on Saturday to announce the schedule of Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections in some states. Along with this, the Election Commission said that its live streaming will be done on all social media platforms. Before this, the Election Commission met for about 45 minutes on Friday (15 March) in which the preparations for the elections were reviewed. Today itself, newly appointed Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu have taken charge at the Election Commission headquarters.

When is the tenure of the current Lok Sabha ending?

The tenure of the current Lok Sabha will end on June 16, 2024. Before this the new Lok Sabha has to be formed. For which the Election Commission will announce the dates of Lok Sabha elections 2024 on Saturday, March 16. If we talk about the last Lok Sabha elections 2019, its dates were announced by the Election Commission on March 10, which was conducted in seven phases. Whereas its results were revealed on 23 May.
