Haryana Politics: Khattar’s Fall; Seventh CM to Lose Chair in Modi Era, Who’s Next?

Haryana Politics: There was turmoil in the politics of Haryana before the Lok Sabha elections 2024. After the breakdown of BJP-JJP alliance, Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from the post of Chief Minister.

Haryana Politics: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was running with the target of winning 370 plus seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, got a huge blow when the alliance of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) and BJP broke in Haryana and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Including the entire cabinet resigned. However, it is being said that now a fresh government will be formed.

At the same time, Manohar Lal Khattar, who lost the post of Chief Minister during the Modi era, became the seventh CM. Before him, there have been 6 such Chief Ministers who lost their posts during the tenure of Narendra Modi. Among these, there was one Chief Minister who had to leave his post within just three days.

Tirath Singh Rawat also could not complete his tenure and had to leave the chair before the elections. Tirath Singh Rawat sat on the CM’s chair for only 116 days, after which the party made Pushkar Singh Dhami the CM.

Anandi Ben Patel

After Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014 , Anandiben Patel was made the Chief Minister of Gujarat. However, she did not stay on this post for long and after a tenure of 2 years and 77 days, she had to leave the chair. After him the party made Vijay Rupani the CM.

Vijay Rupani

Under the leadership of Rupani, BJP won the elections of the 14th Assembly of Gujarat, but Rupani could not complete the tenure of this Assembly and he had to leave the post of CM. However, including the tenure of 13th and 14th Assembly, he spent a total of 5 years and 37 days on the CM’s chair. After him, BJP made Bhupendra Patel the CM.

BS Yediyurappa

During the Modi era, the tenure of a BJP Chief Minister lasted only for three days. After winning the 2018 assembly elections in Karnataka, BJP made BS Yediyurappa the Chief Minister and his tenure ended in just three days. After that HD Kumaraswamy of Janata Dal became the Chief Minister. However, Kumaraswamy also could not complete his tenure in the 15th Assembly of Karnataka.

One year and 61 days after losing power, Yediyurappa was again elected Chief Minister in the 15th Assembly of Karnataka, but this time too he could sit on this chair only for 2 years and 2 days. The tenure of the 15th Assembly was still left, but Yediyurappa had to leave the post of CM and then BJP made Basavaraj Bommai the CM, who remained the Chief Minister till the end of the tenure of the 15th Assembly.

Devendra Fadnavis

BJP won the Maharashtra assembly elections in 2014 and made Devendra Fadnavis the Chief Minister. Fadnavis completed this term, but as per his thinking he did not get the next term. In November 2019, he hurriedly took oath as CM and within just five days he had to leave the post of Chief Minister. After him Uddhav Thackeray became the Chief Minister with the support of Congress and NCP.
