Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Another Blow to Congress – Is Jharkhand Following Bengal’s Footsteps?

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The India alliance suffered a major blow when the alliance's strong party Trinamool Congress announced candidates for all the seats in Bengal. Now in Jharkhand CPI announced to contest the Lok Sabha elections alone.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: CPI Candidates Lok Sabha Election 2024: As soon as Trinamool Congress announced the list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, the Congress and India alliance got a big blow. Now another similar blow has been dealt to the India alliance from Jharkhand also. The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Sunday announced its separation from the opposition alliance ‘India’ in Jharkhand, saying that it will contest alone on eight of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

CPI does not have any MP from Jharkhand in the Lok Sabha. CPI state secretary Mahendra Pathak told PTI, “We have decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections on our own .” He said, “BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) has announced its candidates. , but Congress and the ‘Grand Alliance’ have not yet held any talks on seat sharing. That’s why we have decided to contest the elections alone.

Candidates will be announced on March 16

He said that this decision was taken in the party’s State Executive Committee meeting here. CPI will field its candidates in Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Chatra, Palamu, Giridih, Dumka and Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituencies. Pathak said that the names of the candidates will be announced after March 16. Meanwhile, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which leads the ruling coalition in Jharkhand, said that this decision of the state unit of CPI raises questions on discipline within the party.

It is beyond my understanding: JMM spokesperson

JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey said, ‘It is beyond my understanding… whether the state unit can take such decisions. Discussion on seat sharing is already going on at the national level. Of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 11, All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) has one, JMM has one and Congress has one. However, the only Congress MP Geeta Koda had recently joined BJP.
