Six New Governors Appointment:  President Draupadi Murmu on Saturday accepted the resignation of Punjab and Union Territory Chandigarh Governor Banwarilal Purohit. Along with this, she also announced new appointments of governors in other states. 83-year-old Banwarilal Purohit resigned from his post in February citing personal reasons in a brief letter to the President of India.
In his letter, Purohit said, “Due to personal reasons and some other commitments, I am tendering my resignation from the post of Governor and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Please accept and oblige.”

Purohit assumed the post of Governor in September 2021
Purohit assumed the role of Punjab Governor in September 2021 after a four-year stint as Tamil Nadu Governor. His tenure in Punjab was marked by frequent confrontations with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, especially over the pending approval of various laws by the Punjab Raj Bhavan. Whenever Governor Purohit raised concerns or sought clarifications, the AAP, including the Chief Minister, Cabinet ministers and official spokespersons, reacted strongly. They have repeatedly accused Purohit of being influenced by the BJP and conspiring against their government.
New governors found in these states
Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed the Governor of Rajasthan.
Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana.
Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed the Governor of Sikkim.
Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed the Governor of Jharkhand.
Ramen Deka has been appointed the Governor of Chhattisgarh.
CH Vijayshankar has been appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya.
CP Radhakrishnan, who is currently the Governor of Jharkhand and holding additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra.
Gulab Chand Kataria, currently the Governor of Assam, has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and Chandigarh.
Laxman Prasad Acharya, currently the Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and given the additional charge of Governor of Manipur.
