Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Congress candidate from Indore Lok Sabha seat Akshay Kanti Bam withdrew his nomination on Monday. Akshay reached the collector’s office to withdraw the form along with minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola. After withdrawing his nomination, he also joined the BJP.
Minister Vijayvargiya wrote on the social media platform X, ‘Congress’ Lok Sabha candidate from Indore, Akshay Kanti Bam, is welcome in the BJP.’
According to sources, minister Vijayvargiya planned this in a hotel after taking the high command into confidence. Akshay expressed the fear of something bad happening if he withdrew his nomination. He said that Congressmen will create a ruckus. After this, BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola was also included in the plan. Akshay was sent with Mendola to withdraw his nomination, Vijayvargiya himself remained standing outside. At present, security of Akshay Kanti Bam’s house has been increased.

Patwari said- Akshay was threatened
State Congress President Jitu Patwari said, ‘Three days ago, Section 307 was added to an old case against Akshay Kanti Bam. He was intimidated. He was threatened. He was tortured all night. In different ways. Today he was taken away and his form was taken back. People of Indore, this is a message that you should not use your right to vote. I pray that if you believe in democracy, you will have to stand against this dictatorship.’

A total of 23 candidates were in the fray in Indore. By 1 pm on Monday, three candidates including Akshay Kanti Bam have withdrawn their nominations. Now, apart from BJP candidate Shankar Lalwani, 19 candidates are left in the fray.

There are 3 separate cases going on against Akshay Kanti Bam. A 17-year-old case against him has come into the limelight again, in which section 307 (attempt to murder) was added against him.
The total assets of the family are around Rs 78 crore
Akshay’s personal movable assets are worth Rs 8.5 crore. These include shares etc. Immovable assets include land whose market value is Rs 47 crore. There is also inheritance worth Rs 6.5 crore. Akshay has assets worth Rs 56 crore in his name while his wife and children have assets worth about Rs 22 crore. The total assets are around Rs 78 crore.
